Creado como un teatro infantil para la representación de teatro de muñecos, títeres y marionetas, el Teatro El Parque en su larga vida ha sido dirigido por importantes artistas de las artes escénicas y personajes de la cultura nacional, quienes a pesar de los avatares del tiempo y de los años de prosperidad y de abandono por los que ha tenido que pasar éste escenario, han sabido darle vida en su momento, adaptándolo y transformándolo según las necesidades de su tiempo.
El Teatro El Parque es un lugar en el que han nacido y se han desarrollado importantes grupos artísticos que hoy hacen parte de la escena teatral y de títeres, no solo en Bogotá si no en todo el país.
El Teatro El Parque, con sus 85 años, es un escenario emblemático de la Ciudad de Bogotá que hace parte de nuestra memoria y en el que muchos niños y familias han tenido la posibilidad de soñar, sonreír, jugar y cantar con las historias y personajes allí representados.
Today... continuing with its main vocation “to direct its greatest artistic and cultural offer to the child and family population,” El Parque Theater, every Saturday and Sunday at 3.00 p.m., through its usual Favorites Slot, offers the public from the capital, and foreigners, the best program in children’s theater, musical concerts, puppet theater, musical theater, circus and clowns.
Throughout the year, a wide variety of artistic groups and companies from Colombia and the world parade through the theater with a program that, on special dates and days of celebration, extends its usual schedule, offering reading activities, exhibitions, artistic and play workshops and an artistic program in the open air, with free admission. For many years, it has also been the main stage for the program of festivals very important for the City of Bogotá such as the Festival de Títeres de Bogotá, the Festival Jairo Aníbal Niño, the Festival Acti and the Festival Internacional de Títeres Manuelucho, among others.
El Parque Theater is a growing theater, which works to open new program spaces, making it possible for thousands of children to dream and enjoy the Favorites Slot and with Sundays with the Youngest Favorites, a space for staging and interactive artistic experiences aimed exclusively at pregnant mothers and young children (from 0 to 5 years old), and Story Time, a space for family imagination where storytellers, theater and television actors enchant with their words through wonderful stories, legends from here and there and tales from around the world.
But El Parque Theater also opens its doors on weekdays. This year, it begins its School Slot project with a quality, fun weekly program with content that seeks to bring theater, puppets, marionettes and musical concerts to preschool and primary educational institutions.
And thinking about young and adult audiences, on the last Thursday of each month, it continues with the Rising Slot, a program space that welcomes new groups, young artists, creators and directors who, with a restless spirit and great talent, surprise us through a wide range of shows within the performing and musical arts.
The theater is also a stage for colloquiums, conferences and workshops, open to managers, educators and workers of culture and art in all areas, where educational processes carried out with populations and social sectors are disseminated and made visible.
